Binoculars were a four piece from Montréal Qc, that occupied the spaces between punk, New Wave and Pop.
Binoculars had long been the chameleonic kid brother kicking in and out of the Montréal underground for the last decade, slipping between scenes and surprising listeners with each reappearance. The band has gone through a couple of incarnations in that time, each new manifestation bringing frontman Vernon LeCraw's eccentric tales vividly to life, in ever more distinct and textured ways.
After many EPs and singles, the current - and we'd argue definitive - lineup of Nas, Jo, Edward and Vernon have come together to make a 10-song album, titled Damp Junk, that we think is pretty rad.
Part debut/ part swansong, Damp Junk is a punk rock / new wave kaleidoscope of sounds that will have you jerking across your dance floor like it's Athens, GA, 1979... or New York City, 1975... or Montréal, QC, over the last 20 years. Damp Junk exudes a restless energy, humour and creativity that befits a band as unique and engaging as Binoculars were.
